Description
The ButohOUT! Festival is a collection of unique artistic and cultural activities to activate local communities in Victoria. It initiates artistic and unique cultural exchange through the powerful performing arts medium, Butoh, a Japanese theatre and dance form, which artists bring into the context of Australia landscape, culture and history. The public workshops, performances and public forum will be held between February and April 2018.
WEEK ONE - 1
- Performance night (12th, 13rd & 14th - Open 7:30 / Start 8:00) (15th - Open 4:30 / Start 5:00)
A series of performances featuring Weave Movement Theatre, local performers and solo and group works led by Yumi Umiumare and Tony Yap.(Duration of the performances is approx. 1 hour 10 mins with interval)
- Lunchtime Performance (14th Saturday - 11:00-2:00) @ c3 Contemporary Art Space courtyard - No booking required (Free Event).
A series of pop up lunch time performances.
WEEK TWO - 2
- Performance night (19th, 20th & 21st - Open 7:30 / Start 8:00) (22th - Open 4:30 / Start 5:00)
A series of performances featuring Agung Gunawan, Breathing Forest Dance Theatre, Tony Yap, Yumi Umiumare and collaborators - Reuben Lewis, Brendan O Connor, Shaun Duggan and Ayako Fujii. (Duration of the performances is approx. 1 hour 20 mins with interval)
- Lunchtime Performance (21st Saturday - 11:00-2:00) @ c3 Contemporary Art Space courtyard - No booking required (Free Event).
A series of pop up lunch time performances.
- FORUM (22nd April 12pm - 3pm) - Free event, but registration is essential (register at info@takashitakiguchi.com)

The forum attempts to map and intersect the psycho-physical and emotional aspects of Butoh practices with different socio-cultural and geographical landscapes.
