It’s no secret that Jews love food!
US Jewish cooking maven Joan Nathan is to Jewish food what Julia Child is to French cuisine. Headlining the inaugural Melbourne Jewish Food Festival, the bestselling cookbook author and TV cooking show host has received the highest industry honours.
The festival program also features much-loved Melbourne foodies Alice Zaslavsky and Rita Erlich, and Sydney sensations the Monday Morning Cooking Club.
PROGRAM:
- 9am: Jewish Home Bakers’ competition with $500 prize by Chef’s Hat
- 10.15am: Joan Nathan and Alice Zaslavsky in conversation with food writer Rita Erlich
- 11.15am: Complimentary morning tea
- 11.45am: Cooking Demonstration with Monday Morning Cooking Club
- 11.45am: Children’s Chanuka ponschke cooking workshop with a Yiddish vibe, with Joan Nathan, Yiddish Australia & Sholem Aleichem College (ages 8-13)
- 12.45pm: Complimentary lunch by All Things Equal, sponsored by JAQ, with live music by Adrian and Amy Banner featuring Karen Feldman
- 2.15pm: Cooking Demonstration with Joan Nathan and Lisa Goldberg (Monday Morning Cooking Club)
- All day: Readings’ Festival Bookshop with book signings
