The Irwin Street Collective presents David Kim
About
Regarded as “a performer of artistry, integrity, and interest who rivals Golden Age pianists” (Early Music America) and “among the finest pianists of his generation” (WholeNote), American David Hyun-su Kim holds degrees from Harvard, Yale, and Cornell Universities and regularly tours the United States and Europe. Kim visits Perth as Institute of Advanced Studies Visiting Fellow and Artist-in-Residence with the Irwin Street Collective.
In this concert, Kim makes his Australian debut, presenting works including Beethoven’s monumental late sonata in A-flat major (Op. 110), a “mosaic” suite made up of Chopin character pieces with extemporized transitions in the style of Clara Schumann, and Schubert’s poignant piano duet Fantasie in F minor with Cecilia Sun.
Kim will be playing on a replica of an 1830s Graf fortepiano made by Rodney Regier.
