Birds of a Feather Luncheon with Julie Peters
About
When Julie Peters started working at the ABC in 1971, television was just 15 years old. It was still a novelty, and it was still black and white. She could never have imagined then that she would go on to work behind the scenes at the ABC for the next 50 years, in about 30 different roles, nor that she'd find a way to transition at the ABC in 1990, when being a trans woman was rare and risky.
Now in her 70s, Julie is still believes that the world can be a better place and has been actively trying to make this happen as a doctoral researcher (public health and anthropology of gender/transgender), teacher, sessional academic, cabaret performer, writer, parliamentary candidate, practical environmentalist and media professional.
