Tara Learn to Row - 2024
The learn to row program aims to teach the basics of the sport with emphasis on skill and technique. Trying a range of boat classes, the students will be able to enjoy this unique water sport as well as increasing fitness. The learn to row program is open to all students (Yr7-12).
Program length: 8 Week program commencing Term 2, Week 1 (w/c 29/04). Final week of program Term 2 week 8 (w/c 17/07).
Timetable: Learn to Row session will take place on Sunday from 7:45Am-9:45AM. There are no sessions during the week (unless in the case of adverse weather, see below).
Locations: Sunday sessions will be on water held at Drummoyne Rowing Club, 461 Henley Marine Drive, Drummoyne (DRC).
Transport: Transport to and from sessions will need to be the student’s own arrangements.
Uniform: Rowers are required to wear Tara sports uniform including Tara hat. A change of clothes and sunglasses would be highly recommended as rowing is an outdoor water sport. A Tara racing ‘zootie’ and other rowing attire are available for purchase from the uniform shop but are not essential.
Communication: Parent information will be distributed via notifications via the Tara App, please make sure you subscribe to ‘Rowing’. Rower/student information will be via Microsoft Teams.
Adverse weather: A risk assessment will be taken prior to each session taking into consideration the ability of the rowers. In the event of un-rowable conditions, the Sunday water session will be cancelled and a substitute gym session on Monday morning at Tara conducted. Notice of session cancelation will be given at the earliest convenience via the school app along with Microsoft Teams message to the students.
Commitment: It is possible to also be involved in other sports during Term 2 as trainings are conducted on Sunday mornings.
