City of Port Phillip
Strategies for the New Way of Doing Business
- City council achieves greater efficiency through innovation
- Australian business with friendly, reliable service inspires confidence
"I wanted a low cost, more flexible solution for RSVPs, payment and data collection," explained Rhiannon Mahony, Economic Development and Tourism Officer for the City of Port Phillip.
One of the oldest areas of European settlement in Melbourne, The City of Port Phillip is known for its many dynamic urban villages, an 11km foreshore, rich cultural diversity, magnificent heritage buildings, and beautiful parks and gardens. For the past two decades, this bayside council has experienced rapid residential growth, necessitating progressive planning and support structures to balance the emerging new businesses and the area's traditional industries.
Rhiannon runs 6-8 events a year for the city's diverse business community. Usual attendance is in excess of 100 people; some events are free to attend while others require payment. Recently Rhiannon ran a much larger event with more than 600 registrations. The 'Beat the Recession' Strategy Workshop that focused on strategic adaption and reallocation of resources in a tougher financial climate.
"I was looking for a way to relieve some of the frustration I had with a previous booking system. There were some elements that were clunky; it was based on a membership application and it appeared to people that they had to have a membership to just RSVP or purchase tickets. This was especially confusing for people who wanted to register for a free event."
A colleague who used TryBooking to manage guest lists for his community events recommended it to Rhiannon. "It was very easy to contact the team and everything was quickly explained or done for us."
"The reporting is fantastic. I used quite a few of the reports: the account reconciliation, attendee list, sales by ticket type, sales by time. Now that I have experience using the reports I think I could do even more with them. The transfer of funds was swift and easy."
"I think it's fantastic. TryBooking would absolutely save over using more traditional methods of ticketing and payment collection. There is no need to fax or email. I've recommended to another 5 or 6 people who manage event registrations. I think it's terrific, especially for community events."
