Join us for two afternoon workshops exploring the organ music of North America.
2pm Workshop 1: The organ literature of North America (participants are encouraged to bring works by American and Canadian composers).
3pm Workshop 2: An introduction to Gerre Hancock and the art of improvisation in the Episcopal Church.
4pm Refreshments
4.30pm Organ Recital by Benjamin Sheen to include music by Horatio Parker, Dan Locklair, Rachel Laurin, Gerre Hancock and Ernest MacMillan.
Benjamin Sheen is Director of Music at Jesus College, Cambridge, and one of the UK’s most established organists on both sides of the Atlantic. A former chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral and music scholar at Eton, he holds degrees from Oxford and the Juilliard School. He spent seven years at Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue, New York City, and is a prize-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. Winner of the 2013 Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition, Benjamin has performed across Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia.
