The association's AGM is this year being held at the United Service Club in Brisbane on Tuesday 26th March commencing at 6:00 pm. The AGM will be followed by dinner and our guest speaker, Ian Kemish, AM. Ian grew up in Papua New Guinea and Australia and is a former senior diplomat and business executive. His Government career included service as Head of the Australian Prime Minister's International Division, Australian Ambassador to Germany and Switzerland and Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea. Ian is founder and Managing Director of Forridel, a strategic advisory business that supports a range of clients on International affairs, specialising in the Asia-Pacific region. He is the chair of both the Kokoda Track Foundation, which promotes health, livelihood, education and leadership in PNG, and 3rd Space, which provides services to the homeless in Brisbane. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Queensland, a Distinguished Advisor at the ANU’s National Security College, and an Industry Fellow at Griffith University. Ian’s book The Consul, published in 2022, provides an insider account of more than 20 years of crisis management by the Australian consular service.
