Psychological approaches to working with Pelvic Pain

Megan is a Clinical and Health Psychologist with extensive experience in the areas of adult mental health, complex trauma, and chronic disease. She has a special interest in women’s health, persistent pain, and medically unexplained symptoms. Megan approaches her work through a relational and developmental lens, and incorporates aspects of other modalities, including psychodynamic and somatic therapies. Her most recent organisational role was Senior Clinical Psychologist in the Chronic Pelvic Pain Clinic at the Royal Women’s Hospital. She is now focused on her work with individuals in private practice and providing consultation and supervision to psychologists.The seminar will introduce attendees to common conditions associated with pelvic pain presentations and provide an overview of an assessment process when working with clients with pelvic pain. There will be an emphasis on the role of pain education and the relevance of different theoretical frameworks/approaches in treatment.
