The Jewels of Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire (SOLD OUT)
About
Deborah Mitford was the youngest of the famous Mitford sisters, authors, socialites and creators of scandal. Although the sisters were not originally known for their wealth or jewels, this changed when Deborah married Lord Andrew Cavendish who later became the 11th Duke of Devonshire. Deborah then started wearing various well-recognised family jewels, as well as more personal pieces that illustrated her very “wonderful and ordinary” character.Susannah Fullerton, literary historian and lecturer, will discuss the life of the fabulous ‘Debo’, recounting her background, her triumphs and her tragedies.
Adrian Dickens of CircaAD Jewels will then talk about the family heirlooms and the more modern creations that became part of her collection. You will also discover Deborah’s penchant for chickens, in reality and in her jewels.
Your $35 ticket includes two illustrated presentations and a delicious afternoon tea of fresh scones, jam and cream, plus coffee or tea.
