A Day in Adaminaby
About
Adaminaby is a town that was drowned and then revived to make way for Australia’s largest reservoir, Lake Eucumbene. At the Snowy Scheme Museum, find out how the Snowy Hydro Electric Scheme affected the lives of the people in the area. We will drive to the Lake to view the site of Old Adaminaby and, after lunch, enjoy a guided tour of the current township to see what traces of Old Adaminaby heritage remain. We end with a scenic drive to the wealthiest property in the district, Bolaro Station, where you will glimpse the historic homestead through the magnificent mature trees and pasture surrounds and hear about its fascinating history.
Local historian Neville Locker, a sixth-generation resident of Adaminaby, will provide us with insights and stories from his life’s experience and personal memorabilia.
Tour which will suit most people as there is limited walking involved. Lunch will be provided by the local Red Cross. The coach will pick up at Ainslie (7.30am) and Deakin (7.45)
