Shannon Haapanen

Shannon Haapanen's melodic, mysterious dark folk/country sound is winning her fans everywhere she performs, whether as a solo artist or fronting her awesome three piece band, Blue Wren. Singer/ Songwriter, Shannon Haapanen writes with her band in mind and rarely performs solo. “On (the odd) occasion I perform solo, I see it as an opportunity to present my songs in their most raw & simplistic state – the absolute beginning of the song.”

Shannon began performing as “shantarj7” in 2011. In the Summer of 2014, Shannon performed in W.A.’s Southwest (Margaret River & Esperance) as both a solo performer & duo with life-long friend & musician, Scott Bassham. In October 2017, they did another tour together in Northern W.A.

Shannon’s song writing explores themes of love and loss with threads of hope, transforming the trauma and pain of our world into hope and connection. Her unique sound has been described as “haunting and evocative”, crossing alternative folk & rock genres, inspired by such artists as PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Gillian Welch to name but a few.
