MI with Māori
About
Working effectively with and for Māori is critical if we are to address the alarming over representation of Māori across social statistics. This includes our rates of imprisonment, financial hardship and poverty, health( including mental health & addictions) and life expectancy. Research tells us that MI is effective for working with minority cultures – what does this look like for New Zealand Māori.
Join our Panel who will be sharing their knowledge and experience of working in motivational way with Māori. We have the authors of Takitaki Mai sharing what inspired their collaboration of this rich resource, and how it connects MI and Te Ao Māori (Maori world views) and their current plans to revisit this resource.
Joining Eileen, Terry and Daryl is Tipene Pickett, who draws on spiritual approaches such as the use of Pūrakau (traditional story telling) to inform his practice and trainings. An opportunity to be curious?
