Bad Diaries Salon began in 2017 with a call out from Melbourne writer Jenny Ackland on Twitter – were there any writers who still had their old, bad teenage diaries, and would they be prepared to read them live, in front of an audience? The response was overwhelming, and Bad Diaries Salon was born.Returning to Melbourne for the first time since 2019, BAD DIARIES SALON #NOTES features writers Angela Savage, Janine Mikosza, Pirooz Jafari, Sarah Schmidt, Justine Sless and Jenny Ackland, with host Tracy Farr.
One night, one not-to-be-repeated show, with six writers reading from their diaries and other unpublished juvenilia on the salon theme, NOTES. Our shows are not recorded, so to know what goes down at Bad Diaries Salon you have to be there.
Each Bad Diaries Salon is a unique combination of readers and theme, a performance that’s original and unscripted, candid and unedited, raw, possibly raucous, a little bit poignant, and more than likely very funny.
