KOUVARAS' HERRING ISLAND PIANO SONATA AND BULUWIRRI BUGAJA PIANO SUITE
A major collaboration between pianist Coady Green, composer Linda Kouvaras, and Tiriki Onus, head of the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development. The multi-award-winning Herring Island Piano Sonata evokes Indigenous landmarks and stories from within a 5km radius of Melbourne's human-made Herring Island, with text by N'arweet Dr Carolyn Briggs AM, narrated by Tiriki Onus.
The new Buluwirri Bugaja Piano Suite is the companion piece, with text by Tiriki Onus based upon stories from his trailblazing Aboriginal Rights activist grandfather Bill Onus. These two major piano works with narration are profoundly moving, and have won a swathe of cultural awards.
