Learn to Linux workshop for high-school aged students -
ECU's School of Science is proud to offer this workshop for high school-aged students/teachers interested in learning more about computing and security. Suitable for students with some knowledge of coding. Linux is a popular alternative operating system often used in cybersecurity. Learn to Linux is a hands-on workshop where participants are introduced to different Linux operating systems including Ubuntu. The second half of the day will be focussing on the use of command lines. Feel free to bring your own laptops or use our desktops. Please have TryHackMe, freecodecamp, and Over The Wire accounts

9:00 - 10:00 - Workshop One – Linux basics executing commands and Basic File operators
10:00 - Morning tea - please BYO
10:30 - 11:30 - Workshop Two – Linux essentials – Command lines
11:30 - 12:30 - Workshop Three – Linux - Shell Scripting and Bash
12:30 - 1:00 - BYO Lunch - sit under the trees and enjoy the surroundings - we do ask that 'no feeding the ducks'!
1:00 - 2:00 - Workshop Four – Linux in action - Over The wire
2:00 - 3:00 - Workshop Five – Over the Wire/PECANCTF

Cost: $16.50 (inc GST)
BYO catering: water bottles, lunch, and snacks. There are also cafés and vending machines around campus that you can access
Location: Joondalup Campus - School of Science - Building 18, Registrations on Level 1 at the front door
Parking: Parking area 14 – Visitors parking and drop off area, Use Lakeside Drive entrance turn into Deakin Drive - over the roundabout, and find Red Zone Car Park 14
