This is a one day Weaving workshop with Cassie Leatham , Master Weaver ( Taungurung, DjaDja Wurrung) to be held in the Yea Wetlands Discovery Cente, Yea.Cassie is an Indigenous Artist, Traditional dancer, Educator and Bushtukka woman. She is passionate about sharing her skills and knowledge with both Indigenous and non indigenous participants of all ages .
During this workshop you will weave onto a handmade bowl, using various indigenous weaving techniques, which can either be using local native grasses or raffia.
At the Start of the workshop there will be a short welcome to country ceremony follwed by a small gentle walk identifying the differant types of native grasses and materials you can use for your weaving , as well as other uses for indigenous plants.
all materials required for this workshop will be provided.
Morning Tea and a light lunch will be provided.
