Solstice: An evening with Alta & Sjaella
About
Cozy up in the Fitzroy Library Reading Room for an evening of contemporary choral music with Alta Collective and special guests Sjaella (Germany). In a program that could easily be titled "Things We Like To Sing", Alta and Sjaella will perform some of their signature songs and new favourites, combining forces in a great meeting of North and South.Sjaella is the soul of the women who appear together on stage and have not lost a child-like experience of the world. Community feeds on play and individual strength. There is movement, language, noise and sound, with bodies, focus, and shared breath. It is all of this that Sjaella experiences and seeks to share.
A newcomer on the Melbourne chamber music scene, Alta Collective is already charming audiences with a fresh and genre-defying approach to treble vocal music. Combining movement, story-telling and the collective verve of experienced singers, Alta breathes life into a world of music written for high voices.
