Alan Kogosowski - Rhapsody in Blue Centenary Concert
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the premiere of George Gerswhin's Rhapsody in Blue, pianist Alan Kogosowski performs it in its entirety. He'll also play the composer's 'Three Preludes' and excerpts from his Piano Songbook, with guest Lily Tamir-Regev on the clarinet.
The Times of London called Alan Kogosowski “a pianist of grand panache”, while the American Record Guide said his best- selling recording of Rachmaninoff with the Detroit Symphony “goes straight to the top of our list.” Beginning as a child prodigy in his home town Melbourne, Alan became a favourite of the Royal Family, especially Princess Diana and the Queen Mother. He has presented prestigious series of concerts in London at Sotheby’s, and written major books on the life of Chopin and the art of the piano. Alan was awarded a medal from the Vatican in 1999 for his many concerts on behalf of charitable causes.
