Forming in 2015 Affinity Quartet appeared on Australia’s classical music scene as ‘one of the most exciting ensembles to make their mark.’ Classic Melbourne. Affinity Quartet is the first Australian string quartet to win major prizes at four recent international string quartet competitions: the Grand Prize, String Quartet First Prize and Audience Prize at the 2023 Melbourne International String Quartet Competition; Second Prize at the 2023 Mozart International String Quartet Competition, Salzburg, including Special Prize for the Best Interpretation of a Contemporary Work (Brett Dean’s Hidden Agendas); Second Prize at the 2023 Bad Tölz International; and Third Prize at the 2022 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, London. Affinity Quartet currently pursues artistic development overseas with Günter Pichler, founder of the Alban Berg Quartet, at Escuela Reina Sofia, Madrid, and is creating an exciting future for itself in Europe and the UK as well as in Australia.Hot food from Red Pepper Catering with refreshments, wines and beer available for purchase from 6.15 and at interval.
