ACT Griffins Trials
The ACT Griffins are a state representative program that competes in the Australian Men's and Mixed Netball Championships annually. The tour dates are from 29 March - 7 April 2024, hosted by the Queensland Suns in Brisbane.
ACTMMNA are holding trials for Youth, Open Age Men's and Opens Age Mixed Teams on the below dates:
- 6.00pm-8:30pm Friday 25 August 2023.
- 6.00pm-8:30pm Friday 1 September 2023.
- 6.00pm-8:30pm Friday 15 September 2023.
All trials will be held at Netball ACT
Attendance at each trial is compulsory unless otherwise exempted under ACTMMNA’s Selection Policy.
Prior to nominating, it is essential that athletes understand the time and financial commitment that the ACT Griffins program requires.
The touring squad will train twice per week between October 2023 and March 2024 (with a break over the Christmas period). Trainings are likely to occur both mid-week, and on weekends. Athletes will be expected to engage in an independent strength and conditioning program.
The touring squad will depart Canberra for Brisbane via Virgin Airlines on Friday, 29 March 2024 and will be returning on Sunday, 07 April 2024. Accommodation is arranged at Quality Hotel Robertson Gardens. All travel bookings will be managed by ACTMMNA. Tournament games commence on 31 March and conclude on 6 April.
ACTMMNA requires a $50 upfront contribution for all nominating athletes. For those successful in selection, this $50 will be allocated to your touring fees. For those unsuccessful, this $50 will be refunded.
The ACT Griffins program is 100% athlete funded. ACTMMNA does not seek to profit from the touring squad. ACTMMNA will assist the touring squad in holding a number of fundraising events to subsidise touring fees, in addition to supporting athletes with resources to obtain individual player sponsorship.
Raw individual player costs are anticipated to be $2,500 - $3,000 (pending confirmation of bookings and AMMNA tournament fees).
Athletes of all ages, skill levels and experiences are encouraged to nominate.
