“Albert Einstein put it best: “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
Betty Edwards, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
This photowalk will revisit the ideas of Betty Edwards on right and left brain thinking. While the concept of distinct left and right brain dominance can be debated, it underscores the brain's remarkable complexity and its capacity to merge various cognitive abilities and open us up to creativity. We will learn a couple of Edwards’ “tricks” to suppress our dominant conscious assumptions of what we “see” and how they can apply to significantly improve how we “look” and “observe” what we are photographing. We will also use our cameras and our perceptions to consider the questions “Who am I?” and “What do I want?”
