South Side Symphony Orchestra (SSSO), Made in America
"Made in America" will paint a musical picture of a diverse ,vibrant, exciting new world which defined a generation and has left an indelible mark on symphonic music ever since. The concert includes classics by Dvorak, Gershwin and Herrmann but audiences will also be treated to a performance of The Oak, a tonal poem by little known composer Florence Price, the first female African-American to have a symphony performed by a major American orchestra.
