After his comprehensive 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’ calling for environmental action, in October 2023 Pope Francis issued a new document Laudate Deum which states “ Our responses have not been adequate, while the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point.”The Conference of Parties (COP) is an annual meeting of countries to agree on actions to combat climate change. COP28 runs from November 30 to December 12 in the United Arab Emirates, and in an unprecedented action, clearly compelled by the failure of countries to act urgently, Pope Francis will attend and address this world body.
This webinar is being held during COP28 after Pope Francis has given his address to the delegates and speakers will discuss Laudate Deum, Francis’ address, and progress being made, if any, at COP28.
