Celebrating
Dixieland Jazz Standards
Thursday January 25th 2024 1.00pm
Majestic Theatre, 3 Factory St, Pomona
Members $25 – Guests $30 + booking fee
Dixieland Jazz was a style of jazz that actually got its name from a band. The 'Original Dixieland Jazz Band' was the first band to make a commercial jazz recording in 1917. It was their unique style that eventually became known as the musical genre, “Dixieland Jazz”.
Today we are to enjoy Peter Uppman (trumpet), Paul Williams (saxophone/clarinet), Chris Schnack (trombone), Jo Bloomfield (piano), Glenn Flenady (banjo), Richard Stevens (sousaphone) and Rod Andrew (drums), as they celebrate:
Dixieland Jazz Standards from 1902 - 1930
Many of the tunes to be featured are popular all-time favourites and the rollicking tempos mixed with beautiful harmonics ensures an afternoon of great entertainment.
The Theatre opens at 12 noon and the concert commences at 1.00pm until 3.30pm with a 1/2 hour break between each set.
