TMLT is pleased to present two of Alan Bennett’s dramatic monologues, Talking Heads. Directed by Lesley Sawyer. Nights in the Gardens of Spain follows Rosemary Horrocks as her life is changed by a neighbour who has been living with an abusive husband. They become close friends in a tender relationship which has the potential to bring them both happiness.
The Hand of God follows Lawrence, an antiques dealer, who butters up his elderly neighbour in order to be able to buy their antique treasures when they die. His plans go awry, though, when a distant relative comes on the scene. Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads series features twelve award-winning and highly acclaimed dramatic monologues - in which one person presents their story. Each is a unique and compelling character, sharing thoughts, experiences, and emotions directly with the audience.
Alan Bennett’s writing is known for its wit, insight, and exploration of the complexities of human relationships.
