Snowed up with a Duchess (SOLD OUT)
by C.A.Castell
Adapted for radio by Jan Nary
Presented by Redland Museum & Theatre Redlands
Produced for The National Trust, Australian Heritage Festival 2024.
A theatrical gem discovered by the Museum’s Librarian, Liz Blumson, C. A. Castell’s Snowed up with a Duchess is a light and lovely “mistaken-identity” piece, set in pre-World War 1 England. While essentially a drawing room comedietta, underneath the comedy there’s a sharp observation of changes rippling through world politics – and even through such unshakeable institutions as the British class system. There’s a snowstorm, a duchess, a housekeeper, a dressmaker –sorry, couturière – and a social climber. What could possibly go wrong? Join us in the Museum’s Virtual Radio Studio and find out…
Produced to celebrate the Australian Heritage Festival (18 April – 19 May 2024), the National Trust Redlands Community Group invites you to join us for theatre and supper / afternoon tea.
The Theme this year for the Australian Heritage Festival is CONNECTIONS. To encourage the community to celebrate the rich and diverse stories of our Nation, strengthen cultural and historical ties and forge new bonds as well as celebrate our link to people, places and the past and the enduring connections that will shape the future of Heritage.
