ATTACHMENT PROCESSES: THE CONNECTION BETWEEN EARLY DEVELOPMENT AND CLINICAL PRACTICEThis seminar will explore the impact of early development as expressed in relational patterns. The links of this to a modern neuroscience understanding of ‘unconscious process’ will be flagged to help understand persistent struggles in human relationship and the challenge of accessing these in treatment. The links of this construct to the Circle of Security’s Core Sensitivities as a way of supporting clinicians to engage with these processes will conclude the discussion.
Joe Coyne has 30 years of experience as an applied developmental psychologist in areas of child and family psychology and adult psychotherapy. He is interested in developmental processes that lead to healthy outcomes, such as impacts of parenting and early life events on personal trajectories. He is an accredited therapist and supervisor for the Circle of Security Intensive intervention.
