Join Colin Boyce MP and guest speaker, Steven Nowakowski for an open community discussion on CQ's energy future, including windfarms, and the possibility on a nuclear industry in Australia.As we navigate towards net zero emissions by 2050 and witness the rapid expansion of large-scale renewables across CQ, community engagement on this subject becomes increasingly imperative. While there is a necessity for reliable baseload power, the most effective means of attaining it remains a topic of contention. Amidst the prevalent media coverage around mass-scale renewable energy projects (including wind, solar, pumped hydro and associated transmission initiatives), there arises questions such as: are we inadvertently causing harm to our ecosystems with expansive solar and wind developments? Should this be at the expense of our prime agricultural land? and are there other alternatives, such as nuclear?
