Pieces of Margery is an opera about the challenges a diagnosis of dementia brings to the lives of Margery and Leonard Rey.After 40 years of marriage their settled and perfect routine is threatened by Margery's early symptoms and diagnosis. Headstrong and independent Margery fears losing her autonomy and her dignity while Leonard content with the way things have always been, grapples with a new reality, fears losing the woman he loves and wonders how to negotiate the changes in the way they must live their future lives.
Pieces of Margery journeys through shock, denial and grief to understanding, love and acceptance.
