Power and Elegance, Mozart & Haydn
The power and elegance of two of the masters of the classical era of music, Mozart and Haydn, will be on display as the Newcastle University Choir presents its first concert of 2024 on 19 May at Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle. The breadth of genius of Mozart will be evident in his sublime “Ave Verum Corpus” and choruses from his “Solemn Vespers” and dramatic opera “Idomeneo”. Josef Haydn’s powerful “Mass in the Time of War (Paukenmesse)” will complete the program. The choir and orchestra will be joined by soloists Marion Maroney, Caroline Hill, Daniel Wheeler and Nicholas Geddes and conducted by Dr Christopher Allan.
