Brisbane is proud to host, for the first time in 2024, the annual Australia ICOMOS Jim Kerr Address, this year featuring Meredith Walker, Jane Lennon and Peter Marquis-Kyle.The Jim Kerr Address pays respect to the late James Semple Kerr, author of The Conservation Plan, by perpetuating open inquiry into the understanding of place and the constant review of progress in conservation philosophy and practice.
We will be hearing from some of the doyens of the Australian heritage profession – Meredith Walker, Jane Lennon and Peter Marquis-Kyle. They will share their stories about the early days of heritage conservation, the movers and shakers, the challenges and successes, when heritage was an outlier profession, as much about activism as about legislation. And they promise to share some embarrassing old photos.
The event will be hosted by Australia ICOMOS Executive Committee member and all-round good-guy Andrew Sneddon.
