ABSOLUTE BEGINNER RIGID HEDDLE WORKSHOP

Curious about weaving? In this workshop you will learn about looms and weaving, ways to warp up, tips and tricks, fixing inevitable mistakes, learn plainweave and simple hemstitch, with a sample weave. We will discuss colour and values, how to choose fibres for beginning weaving, and simplifying all those confusing terms used by weavers. You will end the day with a small completed sample of weaving to take home and finish off and you will feel confident to start a simple project on your own loom, such as a scarf.Full notes provided in hardcopy and as a .pdf emailed after the workshop if participants prefer.
The workshop will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm with a 1 hour lunch break. We will supply the looms (Sampleit looms)
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: a pen for notes, small scissors, a tapestry needle suitable for 8 ply wool, 100g of 8 ply smooth, plain colour or multicoloured commercial wool (NOT acrylic, cotton or handspun) and your own lunch
