JAPANESQUE IRIS FOLDING
About
Iris folding is a simple craft method that involves layering materials in a preset pattern. In this workshop you’ll use the iris folding technique in combination with traditional Japanese materials to create your very own framed mini kimono artwork. Select from a range of silkscreened yuzen origami paper or upcycled vintage kimono fabric, then follow a cutout kimono pattern and template to layer your paper/fabric and bring your art to life. At the end of the workshop, you’ll also receive some complimentary materials so you can make your own iris fold greeting card at home. The workshop is suitable for everyone from complete beginners, ages 12 and up. It is led by Yukimi Breaden, who transforms pre-lived kimonos into fashion garments and accessories.
The workshop includes:
- all supplies and tools you’ll need on the day
- a card base, template, and extra yuzen origami to make your own greeting card at home
