Victoria High Country Licola (SOLD OUT)

Meet at Licola Caravan park February 8, 1700 hours, BBQ & drinks at an undercover area with a fire pit. Next day trip to Walhalla, an historical town & possible goldmine tour. Monday, travel the Tamboritha road to 1200 metres with sweeping views. Then take the Dingo hill Track & descend to the Caledonia River to camp & follow through the gorge with many river crossings to Howitt Hut. From there, head south along the Butcher Country track following the ridge line to camp at altitude (weather permitting). Next we will descend to the Macalister River track with several river crossings and a riverside camp. From here we travel the back tracks to the Jameson -Licola all weather road finding a camp site along the Jamieson River some 10-15 km east of Jamieson.
Day 7 is a rest dayfor you to relax, swim, fish, walk or shop in Jamieson. Day 8 is the end of the trip to leisurely drive back to the bitumen via the Jamieson -Licola road
Terrain varies from scenic to hard & some difficult with some steep ascents & descents. Need basic recovery gear plus 4 traction boards or a winch. A/T Tyres with 50% tread. A qualified First Aider is desired for this trip. Convoy: 5 vehicles. Trip Leader : Craig Marchant who can be contacted for itinerary, communication and evacuation details. Tents only.
