Brisbane City Pops Orchestra presents Britain and Beyond
The Brisbane City Pops Orchestra presents our third concert for 2024 - Britain and Beyond. Featuring hits from the golden age of British light music. Hear the rousing Knightsbridge March by Eric Coates, the light-hearted March from A Little Suite by Trevor Duncan - the theme music from the television show Dr. Finlay’s Casebook - and the wonderful music from Camelot, by Alan J. Lerner. Our string sections will be on show as they perform Percy Grainger’s Molly on the Shore, based on an Irish reel. We visit Bonnie Scotland, with Ron Hanmer’s Scottish Patrol and we celebrate the famous pop group, The Beatles, with a medley of some of their best hits. We also welcome a new guest artist, soprano Ashleigh Denning, as she leaves Britain to perform favourites such as the dramatic Habanera from Carmen, the romantic On Wings of Song by Mendelssohn and The Rose, a Bette Midler hit used as the theme from the film of the same name. Our conductor will be the dynamic Neil Flottmann.
