Zoom: Collective Shadow & Archetypal Enemy with Annette Lowe
Carl Jung’s concept of the collective Shadow is most useful for our understanding of both historical and current events. When we observe contemporary politics and recent events, we can see that a heightened hidden emotionality and archetypal energy lie behind the collective Shadow in operation. We can observe how the emotions of shame, pride, the inflation of national ego identity, and fear of the ‘Other’ makes us vulnerable to being unconsciously/subliminally or even openly manipulated by ‘leaders’ from all sectors, leading to mass incidents of violence and abuse.
