AFI - VIC August Presentation Bifilms-A Personal Perspective
From a chance meeting about 20 years ago at the inaugural South African Casting Conference Gary first met John Campbell and heard about oxide bifilms. It was a spell binding presentation by John. He quickly forgot about bifilms because he was into high pressure diecasting at the time. Then in 2016 he met John again at the CTNZ conference in Wellington NZ. This meeting was life changing. He was bitten by the bifilm bug and immediately starting reading any publication that could be found from John. Fast forward to last year’s AFI conference in Melbourne where John was the Keynote Speaker and Gary was fortunate enough to arrange a number of presentations from the foundry community and myself related to bifilms. For the past 6 years or so Gary has been very lucky to have the opportunity to conduct research and development on bifilms at CSIRO & RMIT, and more recently in retirement with his Churchill Fellowship plus close working relationships with CrestCNC and Hasco Foundry.
