About
Set in early 19th century Germany, The Nutcracker begins on Christmas Eve at the Silberhaus home. During a lively party, children receive gifts, and Clara Silberhaus is enchanted by a Nutcracker given to her by Drosselmeyer, her godfather and a mysterious toy-maker. However, her brother Fritz accidentally breaks the Nutcracker, and Clara lovingly places it in her doll bed to recover.Later that night, Clara returns to check on her Nutcracker, only to find the room overtaken by mice. Her toys come to life, and a battle ensues between the Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Clara saves the Nutcracker, who transforms into a prince. He then takes her to the magical Land of Sweets, where they are welcomed by the Sugar Plum Fairy. In their honor, various delightful dances are performed. The ballet ends with a grand waltz, leaving Clara with a magical memory she will treasure forever.
