A full day teacher conference and professional learning event featuring, for the first time in Australia, Dr. Wes Hoover, of the Simple View of Reading and the Cognitive Foundations of Reading Acquisition. Dr. Hoover will discuss these important theories, why they are important and their implications for teaching and learning. A second keynote will feature the extraordinary Prof. Genevieve McArthur (the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy and the Dyslexia/SPELD Foundation) who will present on the Current Science of Literacy and Mental Health: implications for teachers and schools. Concurrent presentation and workshop sessions for teachers and intervention specialists for Years P-3, 4-6, 7-10 will feature Laureate Professor Anne Castles, Prof. Rauno Parrila, Prof. Saskia Kohnen, Dr.Erin Banales, PhD candidate Jessica Colleu Terradas and other cutting-edge researchers from the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy.Date
