Join the LGIS Health and wellbeing team and Curtin University presenter Leah Zoszak for a comprehensive workshop focusing on new research and resources in good work design, including practical risk assessment tools and resources to help facilitate successful implementation into your teams.
Who is the workshop for?
Anyone who would like to improve their knowledge of good work design, manual task risk management, SMART work design tool, and how to use these practical tools and resources to facilitate successful implementation into your teams. Perfect for people leaders in the roles of injury management; human resources; work, health and safety officers; and decision makers.

- Understanding the important role that leaders play in facilitating good work design for physical and psychological wellbeing
- Understanding the WHS legislation and Code of Practice for HMT's risk management
- Simplified approach to participatory ergonomics / risk assessment tools and resources
- Facilitating appropriate consultation with workers, and successful implementation of prevention strategies
- Globally recognised SMART framework and work design tool, designed by the Center of Transformative Work Design at Curtin Uni
Presenters
Michael Scott is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, with extensive experience working in a range of workplace prevention and wellbeing roles over the last 18 years. Michael has worked at LGIS since 2022 and is passionate about collaborating with WA local governments to provide injury prevention services, which includes educating workers and implementing effective prevention strategies, based on ergonomics, manual task risk management and good work design.
Simon O'Connor is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, with 20+ years experience working in exercise, injury prevention and health and wellbeing industry, across a range of sectors. Simon has worked for LGIS for over 12 months, and visits members across WA, focusing on education, risk assessment and strategic advice to help reduce the frequency and severity of manual task injuries experienced across WA local governments.
Leah Zoszak is an Industrial and Organisational Psychologist at the Future of Work Institute, Curtin University. Leah has many years of experience working in the WHS space, with a targeted focus on psychological risk assessment, and hazard control through preventative work redesign. Leah currently leads the development and implemtation of innovative SMART work design interventions that contribute to the scientific literature, and improve productivity and wellbeing at work.
