Curatorial Tour: A Place Called Hollywood
About
Join curatorial staff for a tour of A Place Called Hollywood, to learn more about the development of this exhibition and the history of those who lived, worked and played in an unofficial “suburb” of Newcastle established just outside Jesmond during the Great Depression of the 1920s and 1930s.The curator worked with Transport for NSW and archaeologists to develop an exhibition that draws from the collection of archaeological salvage objects recovered from the ‘Hollywood’ site, and features community memories captured in a series of videos. The exhibition remembers a place and time where resilient and resourceful people created their own homes and community.
