Western Enrichment Learning Lab offers a full day Geography fieldwork learning experience for homeschooled students studying the Stage 4 and 5 NESA curriculum.Topics studied:
Stage 4 Geography – Landscapes and Landforms
Stage 5 Geography – Environmental Change and Management
The Geography fieldwork skills used by students include:
- Measuring wave direction and speed
- Coastal dune vegetation identification
- Beach profile survey using the Emery method
- Sand grain classification
- Dune vegetation transect
- Dune quadrat sampling
- Field sketching
- Examination of environmental management techniques
- Topographic map reading
- Map creation
- Measuring weather conditions using digital and analogue equipment
No activities are conducted in the water. A range of optional activities are provided for students
to complete at home before and after the fieldwork experience.
Maximum 16 students.
Parking at Warilla-Barrack Point Surf Lifesaving Club.
