Levels
Beginner
4 years or less grooming experience
Does not show dogs
Intermediate
5-9 years of grooming experience
Has placed first place in the beginner class against 5 or more competitors
Volunteers to move up to intermediate
Master
10+ years of grooming experience
Has placed first in the intermediate class against 5 or more competitors
Has shown the breed they are competing on for 4+ years
Grooming instructors and trainers are considered Masters
Volunteers to move up to masters
“Grooming Experience” refers to when the groomer started learning to clip and scissor (not from when they first started bathing/drying)

Rules
Terrier Class
Dogs must have 30 days or more growth except for the flat work
Dogs must be groomed to breed standard as seen in the conformation show ring
All dogs may have sanitary and pads shaved prior to the competition
There should be no visible pink skin or bald patches
Jacket coat must be carded or hand stripped (not clipped)
Chalk may be applied prior to or during the competition to aid in hand stripping
Chalk to enhance the coat colour is permitted
Pure Bred Class
Dogs must have 6 weeks coat growth minimum
Dogs must be groomed to breed standard as seen in the conformation show ring
All dogs may have sanitary and pads shaved prior to the competition
Sprays as used in the conformation show ring are permitted
Salon Class
Dogs must have 6 weeks coat growth minimum
Open to any pure breed or cross breed
All dogs may have sanitary and pads shaved prior to the competition
Teddy styles permitted
Turning a purebred into another purebred is permitted
Purebred dogs must not be groomed to breed standard
Coat carving is permitted
A small amount of colour is permitted (must not be more then 10% of the dog)
No Asian Fusion styling in this class
Gundog Class
Dogs must have 6 weeks coat growth minimum
Dogs must be styled to breed standard
Thinning scissors are not to be used on the jacket
Thinning scissors can be used for bending ears, head, face, neck and rear
Clippers can be used on the face, back, chest and ears
Chalk is allowed
All dogs may have sanitary and pads shaved prior to the competition
Sprays as used in the conformation show ring are permitted
Poodle Class
Dogs must have 6 weeks coat growth minimum
All poodles may have sanitary and pads shaved prior to the competition
Poodle face, feet and tail can be clipped prior to the competition
Bands can be done prior to the competition
All poodles with ‘spray ups’ will have an extra 15 minutes added to their time frame
Hairspray can be used on the topknot at any time during the competition time frame
Poodles must be groomed in a traditional breed standard trim
Asian Class
Dogs must have 6 weeks coat growth minimum
All dogs may have sanitary and pads shaved prior to the competition
Some colouring, accessories and clothing is permitted
Coat carving is permitted
Finishing sprays are permitted
Grooms must have Asian Flair
Model Dog Class
Model dogs are to be pregoomed and dropped off by 10am (groomed at home)
No name is permitted to be on the model dog
Dogs may be altered
Can apply colour, accessories etc
