A workshop to learn and experience working with fabrics and Batik techniques to make colourful Batik artworkBatik & Tie Dye Artist Akhila Fernando will be hosting two hour workshop to experience making different patterns & designs using Tie dye techniques at Patricia [Pat] Gardner Studio at the Benalla Art Gallery. The art works created at this workshop will be showcased at the Diwali @ Mural event on 4th November at the Benalla Ceramic Art Mural with light art projections to the Benalla Art Gallery.
Akhila will introduce participants to dyes, materials and methods for making an artwork. Dyes, fabric and instructions will be provided and one piece of artwork will be designed by each child during the workshop.
He is an Australian-Sri Lankan artist and is located in Wangaratta. The Batik art heritage was passed down from his father who is a master batik artist in Sri Lanka. Akhila’s own Art brand ARTMORE provides various creative practices within regional Victoria.
