The 'law and the profits'! Who was who on Mugga Way? (SOLD OUT)
About
If Canberra was founded on the notion that anything was possible in this fledgling capital, Mugga Way exemplified what the vision of the city would be. There were clear class distinctions in the new capital which the early lease arrangements in Canberra entrenched. Only those who could afford to build a house on blocks large enough for private orchards were able to purchase leases on Mugga Way.This walk introduces you to some of the folks that made their lives along Mugga Way, neighbours for Harry and Della Calthorpe. Judges, scientists, the national librarian, newspaper men and captains of industry, not to mention senior public servants and more.
The walk will be followed by a chance to view the new exhibition at Calthorpes House and delve into family stories with the audio tour of the garden. Chance for tea and light refreshment at the end of the walk.
This is a walk of about 2.5km on Mugga Way verge. Limited parking onsite. Parking on neighbouring streets.
