Clark Tracey - UK
About
Clark is the UK’s foremost jazz drummer, son of the late Stan Tracey CBE, probably the finest of all UK jazz pianists. He first started playing drums at 13 and by age 17 he was playing regularly with his father’s various ensembles. He has toured worldwide and recorded extensively, owning two record labels himself. He began promoting his own groups in 1981, employing the cream of young British talent. His current quartet includes musicians as young as 19, prompting some critics to dub him “The Art Blakey of British Jazz”. He has recorded over 100 albums (15 as leader) and performed in more than 50 countries. Clark has over 40 years’ experience playing alongside some of the most important artists in jazz both at home and abroad. He has been awarded “Best Drums” title 6 times at the British Jazz Awards. He also teaches privately and has given masterclasses at British colleges. Since 2012, Clark has been Visiting Tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.Location
