Starting at Lennox Street Community Garden near Victoria Street, this tour will showcase diverse plants grown by local residents, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the area, with a focus on Asian and European crops. You’ll visit a small open communal garden before continuing to Highett Street Community Garden at the corner of Belgium Avenue and Vere Street, where you’ll discover more about the plants and traditional gardening techniques used in these spaces.The tour will highlight the significance of produce grown, with a tasting at the end to explore how they’re used in cooking. This is a great opportunity to learn about urban agriculture, cultural connections, and the role community gardens play in enhancing food security and sustainability.
