Increasingly, architects are being asked to advocate for good design and public safety, defend the profession and argue for better outcomes for our cities and communities. View this useful CPD webinar featuring Lindy Johnson from Lindy Johnson Marketing and PR and Rachael Bernstone from Sounds Like Design on creating advocacy campaigns that work. Originally held 25 October 2024.
As an Association, we have recently advocated on behalf of our members on the following complex issues:
NSW Draft Building Bill
Victoria Compliance in Building Design
WA Medium Density Code
Meaningful advocacy is diplomatic, strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking – and as a profession, we don’t always get it right. To help us improve, we’ve invited communications experts – Lindy Johnson and Rachael Bernstone - to share their top tips on the topic.
Lindy is the Director of Lindy Johnson Creative, which provides marketing, business development and publicity & media services to architecture firms in Australia and the UK. She has 30 years’ experience working as a policy advisor and understands the machinations and motivations of government.
Rachael is a business advisor to architects, advocate for good design, journalist, and editor, and has specialised in communicating about architecture since 2002. Through her newsletters and social media, Rachael encourages architects to meaningfully engage with broader societal issues related to the built environment.
Whether you want to start a letter-writing campaign, respond to a policy submission, or meet with a Minister, this webinar will help you craft your argument, make an impact and keep the decision-makers onside.
