The Mysterious Amateur Tramp

A rehearsed play reading. This one-act play is the reimagining of the extraordinary walk of journalist and mystery crime writer Aidan de Brune – the first person to walk solo and unassisted around the perimeter of Australia – and survive. 20 September 1921 to 4th March 1924. 10,600 miles, 29 months and countless boots. Everywhere he walked people signed his travel diary, evidencing his presence at the places he passed through. During his walk he followed the railway lines and telegraph poles and visited newspaper offices along the way which helped in documenting and authenticating his walk. There was more to Aidan than anyone truly knew. Who was he? What was he escaping? What was he trying to find?
